School Clubs at Dobcroft Junior School

There is a wide range of opportunity to take part in various sports activites during the school day, during lunch hours and after school time.

Children take part in PE lessons with their own class teacher each week and also have sports coaching sessions as part of the rotation of activities during the staff Planning and Preparation (PPA) afternoon for their own year group.  These sessions introduce the children to main stream sports such as football and basketball and also to activities such as street dance and gymnastics.

Sports clubs include voluntary activities organised by staff and members of the community. The school also facilitates coaching sessions in football, basketball and tennis at certain times of the year. We introduced "Yoga for Children" in September 2007; cricket, rugby and orienteering in 2010 and street dance and photography in 2013.

This year we are able to offer a range of clubs and sports, (depending on the time of year) which include:- art, cross country, drama, football, hockey, badminton, chess, circus skills and basketball. We also have cricket, rugby and orienteering. In previous years our swimming and athletics teams have been very successful and  our dance clubs have taken part in the Silverdale Dance Festival alongside numerous ex-pupils.

Every Wednesday, before school, we offer a healthy living club aimed at helping children who don’t participate in extra-curricular sport. The aim of the club is to increase physical activity for the children in a fun and organised manner. Lasting half an hour, the children gain the benefit of extra exercise in a less competitive environment.

This year we are pleased to announce the introduction of a few new clubs; karate, cooking, Art's Academy and Discovery (STEM) club.

Details of all our current clubs are listed in the documents below.
